Residents and staff at Angela Court Nursing Home, near Sidmouth, joined in with the Shrove Tuesday celebrations this week with a pancake tossing competition.
Originally designed to use up leftover butter and eggs before the Lenten fast, Pancake Day has become an eagerly anticipated tradition all over the world – not least in Angela Court, where residents enjoyed a variety of sweet crepes.
Led by care home manager Bob Allan and activities coordinator Hazel Tribble, staff also took part in a pancake tossing competition on behalf of the residents – with mixed results!
Over the Easter period, residents will also be celebrating the Royal wedding and taking part in Easter events.
Home manager Bob told us: “We’re very proud of our activities programme in the home and Pancake Day is a real favourite.
“Not only is it an excuse for a feast but it also marks another step towards spring and the warmer weather when we can use our garden area for future events.”
