A taste of India at Gibraltar

Residents and staff came together at the £10 million Gibraltar Care Village in Monmouth to celebrate the Independence Day of India.

The Indian Independence Day is celebrated on August 15th to commemorate its independence from British rule and its birth as a sovereign nation in 1947.

Throughout the day staff, who were dressed in traditional Indian dress, entertained the residents with a quiz and word search as well as showing them Bride and Prejudice.

An Indian themed menu was also on offer to residents and visitors who wanted it.

Care Village Manager, Stephane Beaumont, said: “We had a great time celebrating the Indian Independence day and the residents particularly enjoyed learning about the different culture.

“The special menu was very successful with all who tried. We try very hard to put on a variety of different events every month to help stimulate the residents and allow them to engage in lots of fun things.

“Over the last month alone we have had Royal Harpist Hannah Stone perform for us, we have held a garden Party and organised a car boot sale so it’s been pretty busy but worthwhile.”
