A milestone was celebrated at the award-winning Hatherleigh Care Village as a resident and her husband enjoyed their Diamond anniversary surrounded by family and friends.

Family and friends of Isabella and John Chisholm celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary by enjoying cream teas and a cake baked for them by the home’s award-winning chefs.
The loved-up couple married 60 years ago near Tynemouth in Northumberland where they originally came from.

The couple met while John was working for the RAF. John was a fighter pilot and later flew with the British European Airways and Isabella worked in Air Traffic Control.
Twenty-five years ago the happy couple moved to Devon to start a dairy farm which is not far from the picturesque care village in the village of Hatherleigh.
After receiving their card from HRH the Queen John thanked the staff at the home for helping them celebrate their special day.
He said: “We have had a fantastic day and it has been so good to see all our family and friends including Isabella’s sister who shared our special day sixty years ago.”
John visits his wife daily with their Jack Russell Terrier Geoff, who has become a favourite with the residents.
