Donkeys visit Angela Court

Donkey visitResidents at the award-winning Angela Court Nursing Home near Tipton St John have enjoyed making a very special friend over the past year – Busby the Donkey.

Every few months Busby, who is 11 years old, gets a visit from the residents who take turns in stroking and making a fuss of him at the sanctuary.

As well as the visits from Angela Court’s residents dedicated staff allow some of the donkeys to visit the home so that those who can’t get to the sanctuary can meet and play with the animals as well.

Busby, who was re-homed after his previous owners found that he wasn’t getting on well with other ponies, was the 5,889th donkey to be taken into the sanctuary’s care.

Nursing home manager, Bob Allan, said: “The residents love meeting Busby and the other donkeys which come along to the home and enjoy playing and making a fuss of them.

“It’s great for the residents to interact with Busby and they always look forward to when they are due to visit the sanctuary and also for the visits to the home.

“We take our residents to the Sanctuary as often as we can to visit the donkeys that live there and it makes a great day out for them and us.

“Next month we are having a garden party at our home and will be hoping to raise some well-needed funds for the cause.”
