Staff and residents at the award-winning Frome Care Village celebrated the beginning of Lent this week with plenty of pancake treats.
Traditionally, pancakes were eaten on Shrove Tuesday as a means of using up eggs and butter before the Lenten fast.
At the 60-bed Care Village, on Style’s Hill, however, they have become an eagerly anticipated part of the home’s events calendar.
After dinner, residents enjoyed traditional sweet pancakes with cups of tea.
Home Manager Jill Holmes told us: “We pride ourselves on our pro-active calendar of events and activities, so for Lent we’re thinking of taking up new hobbies with the residents rather than giving things up.
“We are always open to suggestions from the local community so if anyone has a craft or hobby they think our residents would enjoy, please get in touch.”
