Staff and residents are looking forward to welcoming relatives as they celebrate National Grandparents’ Day.
National Grandparents’ Day is a day to celebrate grandparents and was first started in the United Kingdom in 1990 by Age Concern.
Relatives of residents across all PSP sites have been invited to spend the day with their grandparents on October 2nd and take part in many fun activities. Local schools are also getting involved, contributing to an art competition to win some top arty prizes! During the celebrations, guests will have the opportunity to donate to Brace Alzheimer’s Research.
Throughout the day residents and their families can enjoy colouring, games, watching movies and just enjoying each other’s company.
Gibraltar Village Manager, Stephane Beaumont, told us: “This is the first year we will be celebrating Grandparents’ Day but we are hoping it won’t be our last. Grandparents should be remembered and thought of, as they have a lot to teach the younger generations and are great fun to be around.”
“I loved listening to my grandparents tell me stories from their past and also sharing their wisdom. I think it will be great for our residents to have fun with their families and other young people and taking part in the different activities we have on offer.”
Heanton and Gibraltar start their celebrations at 10am and Edenmore, Hatherleigh and Frome at 3pm. For directions to the locations visit our map
