Jeremy Vine opens garden party

Popular BBC Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine spent the day visiting elderly residents at the award winning Angela Court Nursing Home, near Tipton St John, during their Summer Garden Party at the weekend.

The Summer Garden Party was attended by many locals, the Honiton Town Band and resident’s families who visited different stalls helping to raise money for the care home and the local donkey sanctuary.

Books, cakes and refreshments were on offer throughout the afternoon along with a table top sale, a raffle, treasure hunt and cream teas.

Jeremy Vine, who officially opened the event, enjoyed walking around the garden party talking to visitors before meeting some of the residents of the nursing home.

Nursing home manager, Bob Allan, told us: “The garden party was very successful and we had many visitors turning up throughout the day.

“Families really enjoyed the sideshows such as the skittles, hoopla and ‘splat the rat’ as well as the bouncy castle which seemed just as popular with the adults!

“I would like to thank Jeremy for taking time out of his busy timetable to join us in our event and meet our residents who really valued his company.”

Any monies raised during the day will be going towards two worthwhile causes – the Angela Court Resident’s Comfort Fund and the local Donkey Sanctuary.
