Staff and residents at the £10 million Hatherleigh Care Village, near Okehampton, made sure they weren’t late for a very important date as they held their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
The themed tea party saw residents take part in a mad hat decorating competition and play games such as ‘Play your cards right’ with giant cards and Flamingo Croquette.
They were also treated to freshly made cup cakes and endless cups of tea by staff, who dressed up in Alice in Wonderland themed clothes.
Residents staying at Hatherleigh Care Village, operated by award-winning PSP Healthcare, raised money for the Care Professionals Benevolent Fund (CPBF) by holding the event.
The CPBF, of which PSP Healthcare is a founder member, offers support and security to care professionals who spend their lives caring for others.
Last year, PSP Healthcare’s Chairman, Prakash Dewani donated £10,000 to the charity.
New Care Village manager, Lesley Cole, told us: “The residents had a great time at the tea party and really enjoyed eating freshly-made cakes, with eat me iced over the top. Our chef made a clock cake especially for the occasion.
“The residents had great fun and were thoroughly tired at the end of the event however there was still some who enjoyed a good old sing song
“The staff excelled themselves and they now know the bench mark for all other occasions.
“I would like to thank everyone who participated to make this such a fantastic event.”
