Mad Hatter’s Charity Tea Party at Gibraltar Village

Staff and residents at the £10 million Gibraltar Care Village, Monmouthshire, made sure they weren’t late for a very important date as they held their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

The Alice in Wonderland themed tea party saw the residents, staff and guests at the award-winning retirement development, enjoying an afternoon of tea drinking and cake eating while wearing home-made hats.

Residents staying at Gibraltar Care Village, operated by the innovative PSP Healthcare, held the event in a bid to raise money for the Care Professionals Benevolent Fund (CPBF).

The CPBF, of which PSP Healthcare is a founder member, offers help and support to care professionals when they face difficulties and hardships of their own.

Staff decked out the five-star restaurant with bright odd colours, gold keys and locks, mirrors and stopped the clocks at 3pm (tea time).

Residents enjoyed cup cakes, card shaped biscuits (clubs, hearts, spades and diamonds) from odd cups and saucers.

Last year, PSP Healthcare’s Chairman, Prakash Dewani, donated £10,000 to the charity.

Care Village manager Stephane Beaumont, told us: “The residents had a great time at the tea party and really enjoyed making their cakes and hats.

“We recognise the importance of stimulating activities and make every effort to do fun things with the residents which they really enjoy.

“I would like to say thank you to the staff who worked really hard to make the event really fun and also to everyone who made donations for the worthwhile charity.”

The event took place from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday August 24th 2011
