New unit opens at Edenmore

Staff and residents at the award-winning Edenmore Nursing Home in Ilfracombe have welcomed a new 5- bed residential suite which has just opened.

The en-suite rooms, each with their own sea view, are a modern extension to Edenmore Nursing Home.

Although the unit is residential there will still be nurses on site 24/7. It will allow people access to care but at the same time giving them independence.

Operations director Wayne Shermon told us: “This new unit gives residents the opportunity to get involved in care home life without moving in and can also help some people re-develop the skills they used to have such as learning how to knit, cross stitch.

“We are really pleased with the new unit and are hoping it may open a few new jobs for local people. We hope that those who choose to live in the new unit will enjoy the independence it gives them but at the same time putting their minds at ease knowing they can call for help as and when it is needed.”

Nursing Home manager Liz Thompson also welcomed the new unit and said she thought it was a great idea to have a suite for those who would prefer to live independently and also praised PSP healthcare for helping to open up more nursing jobs.
