Nursing Home comes to the rescue!

An award-winning carehome has come to the rescue of a dementia patient after she was left without care and a bed late at night.

Edenmore Nursing Home in Ilfracombe was contacted late at night on Good Friday by Mrs Jury’s doctor who was in a desperate bid to find her somewhere to stay for the weekend at late notice.

Elderly Mrs Jury, who needs around the clock 24 hour care by doctors who specialise in Dementia care, was taken in and looked after by nurses at the 47 bed home after being discharged from a local hospital.

Her family expressed their gratitude to care home manager Liz Thompson who ensured there would be a bed waiting for the admission.

Liz Thompson told us: “We are really pleased to have been able to help Mrs Jury find somewhere safe and warm to stay over the bank holiday weekend.

“With patients like Mrs Jury it is vital they receive the specialised care they desperately need and that is why we made sure we had a bed available within an hour of the call.

“As an award-winning care home we understand the importance of nursing care and our motto ‘people supporting people’ is one that we take very seriously.”
