Staff and residents at the award-winning Edenmore Nursing Home joined the rest of the country celebrating the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton by holding their own street style party.
The residents gathered in the large living area just before the wedding proceedings began and were given a glass of Bucks Fizz to toast the happy couple along with home-made cakes.
Wearing patriotic hats and waving the English flag the residents and their family members watched in anticipation as Catherine Middleton walked down the aisle of Westminster Abbey to meet her future husband.
As the happy couple exchanged their vows and Prince William put the ring on his beautiful wife’s finger the excited residents toasted the newly weds with more Bucks Fizz.
After the ceremony and the famous balcony kisses staff treated the residents to a very British menu of scampi and chips.
Edenmore Nursing Home manager, Liz Thompson, told us: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed watching the Royal wedding especially our residents.
“Many of our residents have witnessed different generations of the Royal family getting married including the Queen so it was nice for them to see how different they were.
“Everyone was commenting on how beautiful Catherine Middleton looked in her stunning wedding dress. There were even a few tears of happiness.
“It was just so nice to be part of such an historic event.”
After the wedding the residents enjoyed a Royal Wedding afternoon tea with plenty of home-made cakes, tea and a glass of bubbly or punch.
