Staff and residents at the award-winning Angela Court Nursing Home celebrated St Patrick’s Day in true Irish style with traditional home cooking and Guinness.
St. Patrick’s Day, which is celebrated on 17th March, has been celebrated since the fifteenth century with traditional feasting and dances.
Residents at Angela Court enjoyed a lunch of Irish stew with Bambrack for dessert which was served with Irish Whisky Custard before taking part in Irish-themed quizzes and word searches.
They were also able to enjoy a glass of Guinness, which went down a treat with most residents.
Dedicated staff also made sure the residents got a taste of Ireland by depicting emblems of the country on display boards around the home.
Home Manager, Bob Allan, said: “As ever it was good to see all the staff joining in with the residents while celebrating another successful event, particularly the kitchen staff who laid on a magnificent spread.
“At Angela Court we try to ensure all residents are stimulated and holding events such as St Patrick’s Day is a fun way of getting them involved in fun.”
St Patrick’s Day marks the anniversary of the death of Patrick, who was initially kidnapped to Ireland as a slave, but later returned to the isle to spread Christian teachings.
